This antique porcelain bowl dates back to the Meiji period of Japan, which spanned from 1868 to 1912. It was hand made and painted in the authentic Kutani style, native to the mountainous Kaga region and traceable back to a single family kiln established in 1656.
Signed by the artist, this bowl is finely painted with a classic rust colored enamel. Its panels and interior depict joyful domestic scenes, as well as delicate mountain landscapes executed in lively, bold lines. Though it shows faint signs of wear and repair over its 100+ years, this stunning antique still retains its original beauty and would make a wonderful contribution to any home.
